Shockingly the big ad winner in this years Super Bowl wasn't produced by any agency on Madison Avenue. Rather a couple of independent producers with no agency affiliation have claimed the top prize.
How did they even get here? Doritos sponsored a national contest to "create your own Doritos ad." The finalists were narrowed, and the winner got their ad played during the Super Bowl. As if that prize wasn't cool enough, according to USA Today, they have taken the top prize as the most liked ad of the big game.
Big ad agencies should consider this as a warning shot from smaller independent firms that you don't need a multi million dollar budget to create a great TV ad. You need a great idea, to create a great TV ad.
