Voice Over Cue To Remember

We recently were commissioned to do radio imaging for a station that was flipping formats from an AC (Adult Contemporary) station into an uptempo oldies station reminiscent of great seventies radio stations like KFRC, KHJ, or WLS. The presentation style was meant to be loud, proud, and most importantly FUN.

Keith Hill, "the unconsultant" working on the project shared with us a great voice over tip that we thought was worth sharing.

"Make words sound like what they mean."

Sounds simple, but what does it mean? The word fast, is read quicker. The word slow, is read slower. You get the idea.

Reading copy in this manner helps the listener quickly understand the message and makes for a more impactful commercial or radio imaging piece.

Are there ways you can incorporate this voiceover technique into your next session?
